Evaluation of the Neighbourhood Connections FoodMate program demonstrated improvements in cooking skills, social behaviour and dietary intake, with increased fruit and vegetable consumption and decreased use of salt. Participants also reported enjoying cooking again, being more motivated to cook and cooking more at home. A mixed method approach was adopted to evaluate the FoodMate program. Quantitative data gathered using participant surveys was used to demonstrate the extent of behaviour change. Qualitative data was collected to provide insights into participant’s experience of FoodMate through focus group discussions and surveys completed by the FoodMate delivery team.
